ROCK Tribe Goes Country!
Building covenant kingdom families and communities in a rural agricultural setting

Lest you think the Rock Tribe is only interested in reaching urban dwellers, we would like to introduce you to the Lee family and their vision.  John and Kathy Lee are a part of the Rock Tribe and lead their own emerging covenant family/house church.  But rather than targeting cities, they have established a small organic family farm outside of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Often, the traditional church model with its religious buildings and programs cannot help the average person envision kingdom life. So, similar to our plan for the inner cities, the Lee’s are developing a “living” illustration of the kingdom that models God’s heart for family and agriculture in a rural setting. The gospel of the kingdom needs to be observable for people to realize that it is great news. Raising a godly family that carries out our dominion mandate by successfully existing primarily on the land by raising animals, growing fruits and vegetables, allows people to witness another example of the kingdom of God on earth. The Lees also desire to teach others who will take this kingdom reality and reproduce it in unreached nations.

Do you realize that out of the globe’s total population of 6.6 billion people, most live in rural settings, deriving their livelihood from agricultural enterprises? The Lees are reaching out to unbelievers by preaching the gospel of the kingdom with signs and wonders AND by illustrating the gospel through a reproducible kingdom prototype of healthy covenant families that work together on the land.

On just 26 acres, the Lee family milks cows, raises sheep, goats, chickens, and turkeys, trains dogs, utilizes Belgian work horses, and grows their own fruits and vegetables. Their four children are homeschooled and truly delight in sharing the responsibility of the many chores on the family farm. Their loving relationships and kingdom lifestyle have become more attractive and desirable than the spirit of the world.  Hollywood’s secular, sensual, and superficial irrelevance holds no appeal. Tasting what is real through the simplicity of this lifestyle has ruined them for the counterfeit. The Lees are convinced that when nominal Christians or unbelievers witness this visual aid of heaven’s reality on earth, they, too, will give their whole lives to Christ.

This vision of reaching unbelievers through agriculturally based kingdom families will take many committed people.  If you are interested in meeting the Lee family, learning more about their vision and lifestyle, and perhaps even partnering with them to develop this living illustration of the kingdom, you can reach them at jlee1348@alltel.net. They will be delighted to share their heart, their vision and their genuine hospitality with you.

I ask that you join us in prayer for this incredible family and purpose.  You might even ask Father if He has called you to this kingdom lifestyle.  If so, should you explore helping John and Kathy Lee?

Reclaiming Of Christ’s Kingdom,

Tim & Janet Johns
